7 Ways To Deal With Your Morning Anxiety
Do you find yourself waking up with a knot in your stomach a little too often? Or feeling stressed about work as soon as you get out of bed, or even the thought of getting out of the house? It’s normal to feel this way every now and again, but when it becomes a regular experience and the cause isn't easy to figure out, it can become overwhelming and debilitating.
Normally, the things which make us anxious are ‘what-if?’ scenarios, the things which are yet to happen to us and quite frankly, may ever happen. We respond with fear, which triggers our body to feel primed for attack causing anxiety, and our body is then in ‘fight or flight’ mode.
It’s not as easy as thinking the anxiety away, so how do you break the cycle? In this blog we’re sharing 7 tips to help beat the morning stress you’re experiencing, so you can go back to waking up calm, happy and ready for whatever is ahead.
1. Asses Your Anxiety
Take some time to think about why you feel the way you do. Is there something particular happening today? Is it the hangover of the Sunday Scaries?
Whichever reason it is, take the time to think about why it’s making you feel so anxious and try and tackle it head-on. Questioning why you feel a certain way is the first step to overcoming it, so you can rationalize the fear in your head.
Although sometimes there is no logical reason, or any reason at all for the way you feel, which is okay too. When this is the case, it’s best to speak to a professional so they can help you get to the root of it.
2. Get Enough Sleep
You might be aware that when you haven’t had enough sleep, your anxiety and general mental health can suffer. And if you’re feeling anxious about a certain situation happening the next day, it’s normal to find it hard to fall asleep when you’ve got a lot on your mind.
Here at Organica, we understand how important sleep is, for both your physical and mental health. That’s why we created our Dream Lotion to naturally help you drift into a deep sleep, quickly.
Made with premium grade lavender, you'll not only fall into a deep sleep, but also feel calmer in both your body and mind. Along with bergamot oil, it will encourage the production of relaxing hormones in the brain, inducing serotonin and promoting sleep.
3. Talk it Out
If you are struggling to get to the root of your anxiety, then talking to either close friends, family or a professional can help you find a cause. A lot of people work hard to pretend they’re not feeling the way they are, and never discover how much simply talking about it can help.
If you wake up feeling anxious, make sure you talk to someone about it, even a colleague or your partner. Together you can work to get to the root of it and you’ll be amazed how much better you feel after. Simply having someone you know understand how you feel can help you face your anxiety head-on.
4. The Two M’s
…which are mindfulness and meditation. Practicing mindfulness of a morning can make sure that your thoughts don’t manage to race ahead and that you can intercept those thoughts before you feel out of control.
If neither mindfulness or meditation sounds like your kind of thing, then do something similar to calm you and put your mind at rest, such as trying to get a walk in before you go to work or going for a swim, whatever works to make you feel calm. If it makes you feel better, it’s worth getting up early for.
5. Switch Up Your Schedule
Whether in the evening before or in the morning, switch up your routine so you don’t find yourself sitting around feeling worried about what’s about to happen. In the morning, set aside some time to read your favorite magazine, or give someone a call. Something that will help you feel better and stop you from continually worrying about what’s to come, and shaking off the same routine will trigger your brain to think differently about the day ahead.

It’s well known that exercise is always a winner when it comes to mental health. Establishing healthy habits and a routine can significantly help your state of mind. Feeling anxious is your body telling you it’s in panic mode, and when routine can sometimes go out the window. However, sticking to one and making sure you participate in regular exercise, whether it’s yoga, swimming or cardio, give it a whirl and you’ll be sure to see a significant change in your mood. Better still, exercise on a morning, it’ll give you time to reflect and calm down before you start your day.
