The #1 Most Common Daily Habit That’s Leading To Premature Aging!

Most of us spend valuable time and money in an attempt to keep aging at bay. From creams and lotions, to protecting against sunburn... we all know the best ways to halt the onset of fine lines and wrinkles. But did you know, there's one common habit that nearly all of us do, that's exacerbating the aging of our skin and body?! And it's something that's super easy and really cheap to change...

Drinking enough water!

Keeping hydrated is very much an essential foundation for staying healthy and functional on a daily basis – both inside and out. But do we really know if we are hydrated enough, and what the effects are if we’re not putting the right amount of water into our bodies? I'll tell you a little secret… hydration doesn’t always have to come from the inside!

Did you know, that losing 1% of your body weight in fluid could affect your mental performance in a very negative way? This is something that can be easily done during a busy day when you’re focusing on other things! [1] We’ve all made it to the end of the day and realized we’ve hardly had a sip of water! It’s not good for our bodies at all.

Why Is Hydration Necessary?

Our bodies are made up of about 60% of water, which tells you exactly how important water is to us. Hydration is key to keeping pretty much all of our organs and systems working correctly - including one of the biggest organs... our skin.

Our skin is hugely affected by how much water we have in our bodies. Let's break it down... think of fruit – a grape in particular! It’s full, smooth and plump, but what happens when it is dried out? That once youthful grape is now a wrinkled, dried-out raisin...
This is, essentially, what happens to your skin too if you're not giving your body enough hydration! Denying your body of the right amount of water will result in your skin aging quicker than it should - a very scary thought!

The plumpness of our skin has a large correlation with how hydrated we are. When we lack water, our skin will become dry, wrinkled and flaky - losing its natural elasticity. As we age, our skin will lose elasticity naturally, so keeping on top of your hydration can help slow this process.

Are you drinking enough?

I don’t know about you, but since I can remember the rule has been eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day! That is what the average person needs – but what if it isn’t that black and white… what if we actually need a little more from time to time to function at our best?

Eight 8-ounce glasses of water equate to about 2 liters… which is a good recommended amount of water every adult should try to consume daily. It might seem a lot, but over a whole day, it isn’t that much water at all. But, this must be altered daily to fit your needs, too! If you’re exercising or it is a hot summers day, you need to make sure you drink extra. Nothing too crazy, just make sure you’re consuming enough water to keep your body functional after losing moisture through sweat. An extra few glasses of water should do the trick, but try to always have a bottle on hand.

Listen to and trust your body! It will tell you if and when you need to drink, so make sure you listen to it and try and drink something as soon as possible. It's okay to drink more on some days than others.

The Dangers Of Dehydration

Dehydration can be quite dangerous when happening continuously! The odd day of limited water shouldn’t affect your body and skin too much, but constantly depriving your body of enough water can cause some serious problems…including aging your skin!

We have made a list of some of the serious effects not drinking enough water can do to your body:

- Fatigue
- Headache
- Wrinkled, flaky, dry skin - can look grey and sullen
- Muscle Cramps
- Constipation
- Low Blood Pressure
- High Heart Rate
- Organ Failure

It is incredibly important to keep hydrated, not only for your skin but for your overall health and wellness. And, as an extra tip, your skin can be the first warning signs of dehydration... so get drinking, as your other organs may be starting to struggle!

It’s Not Just Water…

Here at Organica, we know how important it is to keep your body hydrated! And it doesn't always have to be drinking water. Our Superfood Firming Serum has been formulated for that exact reason! Feeding your skin some moisture on the outside is just as important as feeding your body on the inside - always remember that.

You can also gain a lot of your hydration through your food. Meat, fish, eggs and pretty much all fruit and veg contain a large amount of water. [2] For example, a watermelon water content is 92% of its makeup! So don’t worry too much if you don’t think you’re drinking enough cups of water… you might be topping your body up with your diet, too.

Final Thoughts...

Keeping our bodies hydrated is incredibly important, for both our internal functions and external appearance. Without the right amount of water, our bodies can really struggle to function properly - causing a lot of unwanted issues. The best thing to do is to make sure you're drinking enough water throughout the day and adding a few extra external support factors like our Superfood Serum added to your daily skincare routine. However you do it, just keep yourself hydrated and healthy - you'll regret it otherwise and have a lot of other issues to deal with - not just wrinkled skin. Always remember - hydrated skin is happy skin.
