Ultimate DIY Hair Mask For Hair Growth!
A hair mask is a really simple way to look after your hair, by improving the condition and strength from the follicle to the root. Think of it as an intense moisturizer which you leave it for 45 minutes to really condition and treat damaged hair, and give it that extra little ‘oomph’! Whilst everyday washing will keep your hair feeling clean, sometimes we need to give our hair some extra TLC, too.
It’s easiest to use a blender when mixing these ingredients, but you can also use a whisk, too.
2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil (or switch with 1 tablespoon of olive oil if you have curly hair)
1/2 Ripe Avocado
1 Tablespoon of Raw Honey
5-10 Drops of Castor Oil
5-10 Drops of Lavender Oil
Put the coconut oil and avocado into the blender.
If you're using a whisk, warm up the coconut oil a little before mixing to make it easier.
Coconut oil is great for your hair as it’s full of fatty acids to provide the hair with much-needed nourishment. It will help reduce split ends and hair breakage, too. If you have curly hair, add olive oil instead of coconut oil as it’s naturally lightweight so it will give your hair the moisture it needs without weighing it down.
Avocado works really well for your hair and it’s one of the most nutrient-packed foods you can find, which can ultimately prevent hair fall-out, and make your strands shiny and grow thicker. As avocados contain vitamin E too, they work to help build up the keratin in your lengths, an essential protein which keeps your hair strong.
Now add the eggs and the honey!
Eggs have been used in hair care for years, because they’re jam-packed with lecithin and protein which will not only strengthen your hair strands but will give them a shine, too. The sulfur in eggs works to reduce dandruff as well!
Honey is a humectant which attracts moisture from the air around you to hydrate the hair. This means your hair will be able to cope better in dry weather and dry, damaged strands will be nourished and hydrated.
Now it’s all blended together, then add Castor and Lavender Oil.
Castor oil has been used for hair growth and hair loss for years, as the beneficial fatty acids and ricinoleic acid content helps increase circulation in the scalp, stimulating hair growth and strength.
Lavender oil can also help with hair growth, studies have shown that 44% of alopecia patients experienced new hair growth when they massaged their scalp with lavender oil for seven months.
Once it’s all blended, apply to damp hair and cover it up with a shower cap or towel, and make sure to not get any on your clothes. Allow the mask to sit for 45 minutes to an hour, then wash it out with shampoo and conditioner. For best results, do this one a week.
It's really important to look after your hair, as everything from heat to sun damage can effect the quality of it without us really noticing.
