How To Get Glowing, Healthy Looking Skin... Naturally
Who doesn’t dream of skin that looks clean, fresh and glowing? The dry months of winter are not known for being gentle on our skin - especially the delicate skin on our faces, which tend to be the only part not covered and protected from the cold. But with a bit of self-care and patience, a healthy, glowing complexion can still be achieved.
1. Stick To A Routine
Unless you’ve been blessed with a natural glow, the road to healthy looking skin can involve using a number of products. But do not worry: as long as you find a routine that works for your skin type, your skin should look better in no time! Try to experiment with different products and formulations based on your skin (ask a beauty counter worker or an experienced friend for advice if you’re feeling a bit lost) in order to find out what works best for you. Incorporate new products one by one to see if there are any noticeable differences. And once you found that routine - stick to it, day and night!
2. Apply SPF Daily
According to dermatologists, the majority of wrinkles are caused not by old age, but by prolonged sun exposure. That, combined with pollution, can have long-term damaging effects on your otherwise healthy skin. In order to avoid that, be sure to incorporate sunscreen into your daily routine, even if the sky is looking cloudy, as harmful rays can penetrate the skin even on overcast days. Make sure you’re wearing at least factor 30 on both your face and neck (but we highly recommend going up to SPF 50) and that the cream you chose protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Apply it after your daily moisturizer for maximum effect.
3. Massage Your Face
Our facial skin needs constant care and attention, and while skincare products can definitely help you get a healthy complexion, so does a face massage. To keep fine lines at bay, stimulate your skin with a gentle facial massage; this also increases blood flow and enables your skin to produce more collagen, making your skin appear more youthful. While you can massage your bare skin, we recommend adding a serum into your morning routine - our Superfood Firming Serum helps increase your skin elasticity, while the hyaluronic acid boosts moisture retention. Massaging your skin with the serum before applying your usual products (moisturizer, SPF etc) can really help boost their effects!
4. Don't Overdo Your Showers!
While a long, steamy shower sounds like a great idea for relaxation, your skin might not be so thankful for it. Extended hot showers or baths can strip your skin of its natural oils, therefore quick, lukewarm cleansing is best for your face. However, if you can’t resist the temptation (and during the cold months, we can’t either!), make sure you replenish your skin’s softness and texture with a natural oil. Our organic, cold-pressed Rosehip Oil is packed with skin-nourishing vitamins which can help lift and tighten your skin, as well as moisturize and protect.
5. Beauty Comes From Within
While incorporating beauty products such as serums and facial oils into your routine can improve your skin’s overall appearance, make sure you also treat the problem from the inside by improving your diet. Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, as well as upping your daily water intake, can help you achieve that healthy, natural glow we all long for. Make sure you drink at least 2 liters of water a day, and stay away from fatty or sugary foods, which can make your skin more prone to acne.
