How To Have The Most Restful Thanksgiving Ever
Thanksgiving weekend is almost here, and whether you're lucky to have the whole long weekend off or not, it's definitely time for gratitude, family, turkey and some much-needed rest.
When our weeks are busy, it can be hard to get the rest we really need, which is why the weekends are the ideal time to catch up on the sleep you've missed.
To make this weekend your most restful ever, and make sure you come out the other side refreshed, we have 5 tips on how to make sure you make the most of this weekend, and why eating ALL that turkey is so very good for you...
1. Switch Off
Because our body clocks naturally sync with the sunlight, the blue light from laptop and phone screens can trick our body into thinking it’s day-time. So swap the box-set marathons with a good book and you’ll find yourself feeling sleepy as the sun goes down, preparing you for a great night’s sleep. Even if you can’t stay away from the TV set for long, make sure you stay away from screens as much as you can in the evening as it starts to get dark. You’ll be surprised how much easier you’ll find falling asleep when you do.
2. Tuck Into Some Turkey
What would Thanksgiving be without the turkey? And did you know that turkey is jam-packed with tryptophan, an amino acid which helps produce melatonin – the sleepy hormone? It’s not going to send you straight to sleep, but it’ll have you on the right track and it’s a great excuse to eat as much of it as you can.
3. Sleep Deeper Than Ever
And when you do finally settle after eating too much turkey, switching off and avoiding the booze as much as you can now is time for the most important part. The secret for a great night’s sleep is our Dream Lotion, a natural and effective lotion which has helped so many of our customers come off sleeping pills, and sleep deeper than ever, naturally.
At Organica, we know how important sleep is, and not just on Thanksgiving weekend. With lavender, cedarwood, bergamot and almond oil to relax the mind, body and induce the release of melatonin, Dream Lotion will put you into a deeper and more restful sleep. Try it this weekend, you'll be amazed at how refreshed you feel after a nights sleep with our best-selling lotion!
4. Get Active
(Weather permitting) the weekend is a great time to get out and about and stay active. Although, especially on Thanksgiving, you might want to stay inside and stay warm, staying active will help you sleep. Not only will it physically exhaust you, but exercise is well known to relieve stress, which is one of the key things that keep us up at night. Only 5 minutes of exercise can prompt the body’s anti-stress responses!
5. Avoid The Booze
This one might be hard to avoid, but alcohol can really mess with your sleep. Even though drinking can help you feel sleepier, alcohol affects your REM sleep – which is the stage where we dream and when our mind and body recover. So no matter how much sleep you have, you’ll still wake up drowsy. To make sure you feel bright and lively the next day, avoid the booze and get the best sleep you can.
From all of us at Organica, we hope you have the most wonderful weekend and we hope it's the most restful one ever! Happy Thanksgiving!
